Jesus came to save us, yes, it is an immeasurable love, let us celebrate. But Christmas time hurts deep in the heart, doesn't it? In addition to the obvious sadness at the absence of people who are no longer with us, I think it is because we know that Jesus came to suffer, to die for us. This little baby in the manger... This young man of 33 years. Even if we know that He was also God and that He rose, the sufferings He endured were atrocious.
Sadness is present in the scenery.
When my beloved Leo was in the hospital, in a critical condition, at one point I made a thorny association between his suffering and that of Jesus, with great emotion. I have already explained it in a text; I think I had a sort of insight, which I interpreted as a grace received through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, to offer our sufferings to God: I felt the Love of Christ for us, which allows us to love him in return (Rebounding love).
I'm trying to have more empathy with others, to extend this experience to the suffering of everyone, because we all suffer, there is a lot of suffering in this world. I ask God to give me the grace to make me capable of welcoming this Love into my heart, so as not to remain only in a more rational than sentimental bias. We are sensory beings, our manifestation must go through feelings. And may our feelings be appeased, in the Peace of Christ. All this is very difficult, but "nothing is impossible with God." (Luke 1:37)
Now is the time to prepare a joyful heart to receive the Child Jesus, to celebrate the mystery of the Incarnation of the divine Word, this mystery of Love. What a blessing to imagine myself closer to Him, to be able to take Him in my arms, to comfort Him... under the maternal gaze of the Virgin Mary and the benevolence of Saint Joseph.
Let us join the angels and sing praises! Gloria in excelsis Deo !
"Glory to God in the highest Heaven, and on Earth peace to those on whom his favour rests." (Luke 2: 14)
